The Ashirra- Edit

So finally the edit for The Ashirra: Voids is complete. It was a bit of a nightmare but considering what the footage was like it’s good.

The video is on Vimeo, here’s the link to it. http://vimeo.com/28324729

So after 3 months of hard work it’s done and dusted.

The Ashirra- Day 2 of Filming

Last tuesday we went down to Yeovil to film the band in their chosen location, from what they told us we were expecting it to be a car park. But when we got to location It wasn’t what we expected; we were on an industrial estate outside a few of the buildings using a bit that would be used during the day for loading and unloading goods.
It turned out being a nice little location as it was tucked away far in the industrial estate, away from any main roads and because we were filming at dusk/night there was no-one around but us (the crew & band).

When we got their they decided to change the song for the third time, first we were doing Drowning The Shark, then they wanted to Light of Omega but they then changed it to Voids.

We got quite alot filmed but when it came to looking at the footage the next day in editing we came to realise that it was too dark and if we tried to change it it would either be too bright or too dark. So we are now having to plan to film again this week.

The Ashirra- Drowning The Shark: Day 1 of Filming

So last night we went to Yeovil to film The Ashirra do a gig in the Liberal Club, we got there before the gig started so we could meet the band but we only ended up meeting Dan the drummer. They were on first and played a 25-30 minute set so about 5 songs, we filmed the whole set but Drowning The Shark was their last song.

Unfortunately there wasn’t much of a crowd as it was a monday night and it hadn’t really been advertised or promoted alot. As we were meant to film the crowd we filmed what we could and got slot of the band playing.

For the first night of shooting i think that we did quite a good job, now we have to wait and see how everything else goes.

Music Video Production

So over three weeks we have recorded a music video for the song ‘Love Will Keep Us Together’ by Captain & Tennille.
The video is memories that a man has from his latest relationship, but his girlfriend wasn’t the usual sort; she was a sex doll.
Throughout the video we see the couple doing the usual things that a normal couple would do, but then at the end something happens and their happiness could be in tatters forever.

We all had a lot of fun filming it and i don’t think that we had any problems whilst filming, but looking back through the edit that we have now we can see problems that have to be fixed, e.g some lip-synching, over exposure and a couple of other things. But we can change those quite easily and we are going out next week to re-shoot a couple of scenes.
Here is the link to the edit as it is at the moment..

Burying The Past- Filming Day 3

So on friday we were meant to be filming and getting as much of the dusk shots as we could but when we got to location we set up equipment and were doing a sound check and the camera decided it didn’t want to pick up any sound; whereas in college everything was fine with it. But as soon as we wanted to film it just wouldnt work.

So we had to cancel yet again, but this time it was due to technical problems. So we have lost yet another day of filming and now have to try and get as much done Monday and Tuesday evening as we can.

We’ve already had so many problems and then that happened, it made us feel like were jinxed or something. We weren’t happy with having to cancel and shoot on monday. But on monday we don’t have our actress Charlotte who is playing Gwen so we are doing all of the shots we need of our actor Joe who is playing Ben. And we can go on a bit later monday because in scene… Ben sets fire to some of Gwen’s belongings, to show that he is finally rid of his past and it wont come back to haunt him again. So we can film this when it’s darker. So hopefully Monday goes better than any of our other days of filming have.

My fingers are staying crossed.

Burying The Past- Filming Day 2

We were meant to be filming on tuesday but we had to cancel because our actors couldn’t make it; so we arranged to do the office scene on wednesday because that was when our actor Joe who plays Ben was free. As Jazi, Jamie and Laura couldn’t make it in so it was just me and Jon. I had something to do in the morning so i was late to location for filming but i had let people know.

I got to location to find no equipment set up and no one around. I had to get a second year and someone from another group to help me out with filming. about an hour and a half into filming another member of the group finally showed up but i was so fed up with them i told them to go and start to finish some paperwork off for our Production folder. When we finished filming i went to see how they were doing on the paperwork and found out that they had done nothing.

The filming went well but the day didn’t.

Burying The Past

So far in the production we have been working on pre-production and trying to find locations.

We have found our location and we are using Puriton Hill for ur outside scenes.

Our script has been edited and changed from the original version and we are going to have a test shoot later on today.  To see what the lighting is going to be like and how good our chosen location is.

Burying The Past- Filming Day 1

So we just got back from our first day on location filming for Burying The Past and it didnt go too bad. We had a couple of heated discussions but nothing we couldn’t sort out, we Got a A few different shots of one scene we needed but when it came to doing another part of the scene we found it was too dark and we could see anything on the camera. Overall the first day’s shooting didnt go too bad but i think tomorrow it will go much smoother, because we now know when its going to be too dark to do anything.

Slovenia..

Well after having spent a week in this country with some amazing people i really do like it there.. we had so much fun and have so many memories from the trip we wont be able to forget it.

We did alot of stuff but i think the highlights of the trip had to be the Crazy Chinese Man and ‘The Winchester’ fun times people fun times.

The trip had its ups and downs but i think it is safe to say that we love Slovenia. Many more photos will follow this blog and i will now end it with two words….

SLOVENIA BABY!!!

Channel 4 Inspiration Day

On 25th November Channel 4 held a inspiration day in Bridgwater on Directing and Producing, not many people showed up for it as it had snowed the night before and caused travel problems; but out of the little group of us that did we al worked in two groups and made our own websites and made our own films to put on them.

I think that we all worked well in our groups as we didn’t all know each other and usually that’s the best way to work, being thrown into a group with people you don’t know as you get to know how they work aswell as what they are like.

I was in group a and our website we made was called ‘Jynxed’ as all of our films were on our day so far and we had all had pretty bad days, so we settled for that name for our website. We uploaded all our videos on to youtube and they can be found at http://www.youtube.com/user/bridgewaterC4?feature=mhum

The day overall was really fun and I met some really nice people through it that I hope to stay in contact with.
